FIFA co-hosts the event in North America across sixteen cities: eleven in the United States, three in Mexico, and two in Canada. Our host-city guides list stadiums, transit, and how many matches each location receives so travellers can plan multi-city trips.

There are 48 national teams, organised as twelve groups of four, an increase from the 32-team format used in 2022. The top two in each group advance automatically, and the eight best third-place teams complete a 32-side knockout bracket.
